The most majestic
Bulgarian Mountain, Rila Mountain is highest one on the Balkan Peninsula.
It is situated in the southwest part of Bulgaria. The name Rila
descending from the Slavic word Rula means "Full of Water Mountain".
This name corresponds to the character of the Rila Mountain. There
are more than 200 lakes, which give source of many rivers. This
mountain has wide zone of coniferous and broad-leafed natural woods
and it is National Park. There are over 2000 plant varieties and
a rich animal world. There are many huts and chalets for overnights
and marked tourist paths. But to taste the real spirit of the Rila
Mountain it is necessary to get out of the paths.
The highest peak of Rila Mountain (and of the Balkan Peninsula)
is Musala (2925m). The Musala Region is catchment area for many
rivers.
Another interest part of Rila Mountain is the region of Peak Malyovitsa.
It is famous with the alpine relief, picturesque traverses and the
special charm of the wild valleys. It is the natural setting for
Bulgaria's most famous monastery - Rila Monastery.
And not at the last place is the region of the Seven Lakes. This
is a beautiful circus with picturesque lakes, the holy place of
the movement of the White Brotherhood of the master Petar Dunov
(Beinsa Duno).

Pirin
Mountain is thought to be most beautiful mountain not only in Bulgaria.
It is the country's second highest mountain. Because of the specific
construction of the rocks - marble, marbleized limestone and granite,
the picks and ridges are very sharp and the landscape is extremely
picturesque. Sixty of the picks are over 2000m and two of them -
Vihren (2914m - third on the Balkan Peninsula) and Kutelo (2908m),
are over 2900m. It has 176 mountain lakes and about 100 varieties
of rare plants, including the edelweiss and the famous Baikousheva
fir, almost 1300 years old.
The oldest name of the mountain is thought to be Obrelos that is
Thracian word and means "Snow Mountain". Later the Slavs
gave to the mountain the name Perun - the God-Thunderer.
Trekking of peak Vihren is challenge for everyone who looked up.
And after ascend you naturally begin traverse of the ridge passing
the peaks Kutelo I and Kutelo II, the Koncheto Ridge and peak Banski
Suhodol which is part of reservation "Junjuritsa".
The trekking in Pirin Mountain is very picturesque. It passes trough
beautiful circuses with charming lakes, over sharp ridges and peaks.
It became the favorite mountain for everybody visited it once.

Mountain
Rhodopes Mountain is very beautiful with its green
hills, wide meadows and river gorges. It is the mysterious Bulgarian
mountain linked with the legends of the mythical Thracian singer
Orpheus and the Dionisus. Throughout their thousands of years long
history the scenic paths of the mountains have echoed the steps
of the Thracians, the Slavs, the Proto-Bulgarians, the Greeks and
the Romans. That explains the great number of legends connected
with the Rhodopes history. The name of the mountain is connected
with the legend about the girl named Rhodopa. The entire mountain
is dotted with Thracian and Slavic sanctuaries, old forts and landmarks.
From the other side macabre gorges and caves cut the green hills
and make the landscape extremely picturesque. Rhodopes Mountain
is suitable for hiking, horse riding, caving, ecotourism etc.

The Balkan Range
Mountain gave its name to a peninsula - The Balkan Peninsula, and
life to a state - Bulgaria. This is the biggest and longest mountain
chain crossing the entire country, with highest peak Botev (2376
m) and 700km-long mountain ridge. Ideal for hiking tours with steep
rocks and intriguing caves, of equal attraction to tourists, mountaineers
and speleologists.
There is route that traverses the mountain from the peak Kom (in
the western Bulgaria) to the cape Emona (on the Black See).
The most famous parts of the mountain are Belogradchik Sandstone
Region, the Vratsa Balkan Rocks, Iskar Gorge, peak Botev, the Djendema
Massif, the biggest waterfall in Bulgaria "Rayskoto Praskalo"
and the small towns keeping the revival spirit and the traditional
being of the Bulgarians.

Vitosha Mountain
Vitosha Mountain
is green mountain of the million-large Bulgarian capital Sofia.
This is the most frequented Bulgarian mountain, attractive during
any season with highest peak Cherni Vruh (2286m), with waterfalls
and stone-rivers "Moreni".

Western Balkan Range
Day 1 - Arriving at the town of Vratsa, accommodation
("Tourist house" hotel).
Vratsa is the national climbing center. The town is situated in
the foot of Vrachanska mountain which is considered to be one of
the best climbing areas. There is the famous "Central wall"
- 450m height and the picturesque pass "Vratsata" (The
Door).
Day 2 - Vratsa - Chiren - Vratsa - 40 km (3 h).
Visiting caves: Ponora, Bojia most, Mladenovata , in the region
of Chiren.
Day 3 - Vratsa - Ledenika - Uchitelski koloni - 30 km (3.5 h).
Visiting cave Ledenika.
Day 4 - Uchitelski koloni - Village of Varshets - Klisura Monastery
- 45 km (4 h).
The village of Varshets is famous mineral-water resort.
Day 5 - Klisura Monastery - Berkovitsa - Village of Chiprovtsi -
50 km (4.5 h).
The village of Berkovitsa is health-recreation resort with mineral
springs.
The Village of Chiprovtsi is famous with carpet manufacturing.
Day 6 - Village of Chiprovtsi - Village of Belogradchik - 40 km
(3.5 h).
In the outskirts of the village of Belogradchik is placed natural
reserve - Belogradchik rocks and ancient fortress "Kaleto".
